David Moore

Originally from Oklahoma, David attended the University of Tulsa for his Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance before moving to Colorado to pursue a Master of Music in jazz studies at the University of Northern Colorado. He is in the process of finishing his Doctor of Arts from UNC in trumpet performance with a secondary emphasis in jazz studies. David performs in a variety of styles and groups and fronts his own bands. He has been featured on several recording projects including Ryan Middagh “Colorado Brew Featuring Jeff Coffin and Tom Giampietro” Ryan Middagh Music (2012), David Caffey Jazz Orchestra “Enter Autumn” Artist Alliance Records (2015), Cassio Vianna Jazz Orchestra “Infancia” Teal Creek Music, (2017), and Su Chang “Chasing the Dream” Shanghai Audio & Video Co. (2017). David has also shared the stage with artists and groups such as Jeff Coffin, Louis Hayes, Tito Puente Jr., Greg Gisbert, Brad Goode, The USAF Falconaires, The Colorado Jazz Orchestra, The Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra, and The Northern Oklahoma College Gala Symphony Orchestra. David has studied under Greg Gisbert, Ron Predl, Bill Pfund, Mark Israel, and Philip Hembree. He is also a co-host on the Our Trumpet Life podcast which features discussions of various topics from the trumpet world, with a focus on education. Currently David serves as principal trumpet in the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra and freelances in the central Illinois area.
