Recently, the Center for International Education and Millikin University’s School of Music hosted Master Percussionist, Dr. Jose Eladio Amat.  Jose has been a percussion teacher and performer for nearly thirty-three years.  He is head of the percussion department at the National School of Art in Havana, Cuba, and has performed and recorded extensively in Cuba and internationally. Millikin’s Latin Jazz Project was very luck to have traveled to Cuba this past summer in further developing Latin rhythms and skills with Jose.  As a visiting clinician, José has taught in many universities and schools including Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and the University of Graz in Austria.  Millikin was honored to have Jose give several lessons, master classes, and a joint performance with the Latin Jazz Project.
