2008 Celebrations of Scholarship
Dean Jeff Hughes |
Welcome
to our first ever College of Arts and Sciences "Celebrations
of Scholarship Day." We
hope you will enjoy this day-long demonstration of academic
and
creative practices by our worthy students and our outstanding
alums. Please feel free to spend a single hour or the entire
day with us as Millikin displays the best of the merging
of theory and practice throughout a wide-range of our majors.
There are plenty of opportunities to choose from, from
honors presentations
to senior colloquiums to poster sessions. I think you will
find something of interest to you. Let's celebrate these
wonderful achievements together.

The College of Arts
and Sciences' (CAS) is very pleased to announce our new event "Celebrations of Scholarship" (COS)
planned for Friday, 25 April. Please take a look at the link
above
which will provide an overview of the entire day.
During this day-long event, students from every department in
CAS and also the University-wide Honors Program will present the
results of their research, scholarship, and creative efforts to
the Millikin community. Multiple concurrent sessions across the
campus modeled on a scholarly conference format and organized independently
by each department will start early in the morning and end in mid-afternoon.
In addition, the 15th annual Millikin University Undergraduate
Research Poster Symposium will offer presentations throughout the
day, and the Humanities Undergraduate Research Forum (HURF) will
return with presentations of especially outstanding work in the
afternoon. Departments are finalizing plans for their sessions.
The event will showcase the outstanding work of our students to
show that an education focused on engaging students in the theory
and practice of their disciplines develops accomplished scholars
prepared for graduate and professional study or challenging positions
in the workplace. Please direct questions to the CAS office (SH209,
phone: 424-6205).
