History

Delta Delta Delta was founded on Thanksgiving Eve at Boston University in 1888.  On May 25, 1912, the Delta Epsilon chapter of Delta Delta Delta was added to the Millikin University campus.  Since that time their primary goal has been to develop a strong sisterhood, which prides itself on academic excellence and campus leadership.  They also enjoy working with their national philanthropy, St. Jude's Children's Hospital for Cancer Research.  The members develop a well-rounded college life that coincides with a sisterhood full of friendships and traditions.

The Women of Delta Delta Delta work to promote and maintain a high standard for academic excellence.  The chapter ranks number one among the other chapters as having the highest chapter g.p.a.  Its g.p.a is also higher than the panhellenic, all-women, all-Millikin, all-Greek, all-men, and fraternity average.

The chapter helps to maintain academic excellence by providing a 24 hour quiet study room in the chapter house and academic incentives, such as certificates, pizza parties, movie nights and special recognition.  The members work together to help each other excel in their areas of study.

PhilanthropySt. Jude

For more than 25 years, Delta Delta Delta's philanthropic mission has been to help fight childhood cancer. Tri Deltas across the nation have conducted fundraisers, donated money and volunteered their time for research, support and treatment of this catastrophic childhood disease. Since 1974, Tri Deltas have raised more than $10 million in support of children’s cancer hospitals, research facilities and cancer camps.

In November 1999, Tri Delta further enhanced its current philanthropic focus by forming a partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. This partnership allows Tri Delta chapters to help St. Jude on a national level as well as support traditional philanthropic events for local children's cancer charities.

The chapter members enjoy working with their national philanthropy, St. Jude Children's Hospital for Cancer Research.   Members have worked to raise money for the philanthropy through a variety of campus-wide sales.   They have also worked at the locally sponsored St. Jude Jail-n-Bail and Radio-thon.
