What Is Recruitment & How Do I Join?
During the school year there are two separate recruitment events for both upperclassmen and underclassmen. Informal Recruitment is often held within the first several weeks of the fall semester. Any upperclassman with at least 21 credits is able to go through recruitment and receive a bid. A BID is the formal invitation to pledge a Fraternity. At the end of our pledge term you will have proven that you deserve membership to Delta Sigma Phi, and you become an Active Brother of the Chapter.

Likewise, there is a separate recruitment period during the spring semester, Formal Recruitment, where underclassmen who have obtained a minimum GPA of 2.5 may participate in recruitment events and receive a bid. Formal Recruitment is more structured than Informal Recruitment so please attend all informational meetings.

Why Should I Join A Fraternity?
You likely will have a great time at college weather or not you join a Fraternity. Fraternities are for Men who want more than the average college experience: Men who want to have a huge social life, be part of a brotherhood over a century old, that strive to be better than they were yesterday and not settle for mediocrity.

Delta Sigs take part in EVERY college aspect, far exceeding any college experience you could have outside of Greek Life, and we offer more than most fraternities in the Nation.

Every man who has become a member of Delta Sigma Phi has had no regrets on their college career. Here are the reasons we can tell you. The only way you can learn the rest is to come through Recruitment and hear it from brothers themselves.

Delta Sigma Phi Offers More Than Any Other Fraternity...

Academics
As a student at Millikin University, your number one time commitment and priority for the next four years should be academics. Today, there is a need to differentiate yourself from every other college student. Academic excellence is the key to success in your future and will ensure that you enter the job market well above your competition. Fraternities provide countless resources and support that will ensure your success in college...

Delta Sigma Phi has a Comprehensive Scholarship Plan that guides each brother’s academic plan. This plan also sets guidelines for holding office and extending bids. Delta Sigma Phi has the highest GPA requirement for extending a bid, 2.70 Cumulative GPA , which stands as evidence that the men of Delta Sigma Phi are committed to scholarship and excellence.

Members of Fraternities vary in age, from freshman to graduate students. Younger members have an endless resource of brothers to talk to about classes they are currently or will be taking in the future.

Books are not cheep. Along with having brothers to go to when they have questions in courses, they also have access to cheap used or even free books from brothers who have taken the course(s) before them.

Leadership
In today’s job market, leadership qualities and experience are essential. Within a fraternity, these skills will materialize. Experience earned through the nearly endless positions required for fraternities to operate successfully will prove to be the most valuable knowledge gained during your college career.

Delta Sigma Phi is the first fraternity to offer the opportunity to apply to an annual Leadership Institute. Undergraduates can apply to be accepted to the most intensive leadership program offered today. Here members of Delta Sigma Phi from across the country experience leadership in a way that only the graduates of this institute can.

Greek associations contribute over $700,000,000 to charity EACH YEAR, and put in over 850,000 hours of community service. Yet Greek Letter Organizations make up less than 1% of the population.

Fraternity men in leadership roles:
76% of lawyers in the U.S.
85% of Fortune 500 executives
85% of the U.S. Supreme Court Justices since 1800

65% of Doctors in the U.S.
75% of U.S. Congress members
98% of ALL U.S. Presidents since 1825

Athletics
Delta Sigs are involved in nearly every NCAA collegiate sport including Swimming, Soccer, Cross Country, Track and Field along with participating in every Innermural Sport. Alpha Lambda continues to strive for perfection both inside and outside the classroom and we have to record to prove it.

Gentlemen
With the purpose of fostering friendship, leadership and community involvement, the Greek system strives to release "real gentlemen" to the "real world" as we graduate. Various philanthropic events are made available to participate in within the community. Most fraternities plan their own events to raise money for organizations in need.
