1.) Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Complete the FAFSA in order to be considered for student financial aid from Federal, State, and University programs that include financial need as a criteria. Also, a FAFSA must be on file with Millikin if you wish to obtain a student loan. Millikin’s School Code is 001724. In order to sign the FAFSA electronically, you will need to have a pin number for the student and for the parent. Apply for both pin numbers at
www.pin.ed.gov. Then continue to the FAFSA site at
www.fafsa.gov.
2.) Student Aid Report (SAR)
After completing the FAFSA, you will receive a report of the information you submitted, or a SAR. Review this information thoroughly and make any corrections necessary. You can return anytime to
www.fafsa.gov to review, print, or correct your information OR you can contact Millikin to make these changes for you. Accurate information is very important to ensure a correct financial aid package.
3.) Acceptance of Financial Aid:
In order to accept the student financial aid offered to you by Millikin, simply sign and return one copy of the Financial Aid Award Notification letter. Any changes to your financial aid (due to FAFSA corrections) will be sent to you in a revised letter. Note – Please report the name and amount of any private/outside scholarships you will receive during the 2012-13 academic year to us. Please access our
Outside Scholarship Form.
4.) Verification:
A percentage of FAFSA applications received each year are selected at random for review in a process called Verification. If your application has been selected in this process, Millikin is required to collect additional information to verify your financial situation. Your SAR will indicate if you have been selected for verification. You will receive a verification form explaining all required documentation necessary to satisfy the requirement. Your financial aid cannot be finalized until this process is completed.
5.) Student Loan Process: If you wish to accept one of the student loan options included in your financial aid offer, please pay special attention to the loan steps on the
loan programs page.
