Sherezade Panthaki, soprano
Praised by critics as having lyrical and brilliant coloratura "star quality," Indian soprano Sherezade Panthaki is in constant demand as an opera and oratorio soloist. She has recently been selected as a finalist in the upcoming Le Jardin des Voix vocal competition sponsored by William Christie and Les Arts Florissants. Ms. Panthaki has appeared in widely broadcast performances for radio and television, most recently WGBH Boston, and has twice toured with Helmuth Rilling and the International Bachakademie in Bonn, Berlin , Stuttgart and Athens. Acclaimed for her musical sensitivity and technical virtuosity, she has performed in 2005 at the Bloomington Early Music Festival with Indianapolis-based Ensemble Voltaire and with the Festival Orchestra under the direction of violinist Stanley Ritchie; she has been a featured soloist at the Tafelmusik Baroque Institute in Toronto, and performed at the Boston Early Music Festival with the award-winning Boston-based ensemble, La Donna Musicale. A founding member of the critically acclaimed Choragós ensemble, Ms. Panthaki has been featured in performances of Renaissance music in Belgium, Canada, France, Germany and the United States. Recent and upcoming engagements include Aminta in Mozart's ' Il re pastore' at the 2006 Bloomington Early Music Festival, Bellante in Handel's 'Almira' with Andrew Lawrence-King at the Amherst Early Music Festival, Noel cantata concerts with the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, Handel and Bach oratorio performances with the Baroque Artists of Champaign-Urbana, the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony, as well as Bach cantatas for soprano with Ensemble Voltaire, Indianapolis. Her interest in the interpretation of unpublished/unrecorded music has led to soon to-be-released solo recordings with Ensemble Voltaire (Italian cantatas of Reinhard Keiser) and La Donna Musicale (Antonia Bembo's settings of Les sept Pseaumes de David).
