highway lights
just me and the radio

training wheels off
skinned knees and elbows

riding my tricycle
eating popsicles
hot and humid

summer pond
playing on the rafts
laughing

floating with friends

rocking baby
back to sleep
soft smell of powder

tiny flicks of light
entice delight
all throughout the night

the swaying of a cat’s tail
a squirrel on a tree branch
