breezy afternoon
colors in the sky
tugging at my hand

wax melting down
turn upside down
hot to the skin

teeth marks
torn pages
of a favorite book

family rocker
creaks her lullaby
old faithful

pumpkin
knife on kitchen table
contemplating the expression

     kindred spirit
exchange of coins
          Bingo- jackpot

heads bowed in prayer
church waits
for grandpa to say amen

hot summer day
two hours left
corn

she dyes her hair
to erase the time
her smile will never fade

summer heat
ding…ding
ice cream truck

Dear Kitty:
     ink stained pages
          lost memories

my senior in dog years
she greets me
still wagging her tail

tattered bear
follows boy to bed
teenager

          filthy river
     casino day-tripper
Mississippi boat

no words needed
for this conversation
between dear old friends

child traces
lines in belly
years ago she made

the locket he gave me
broke
still loved

around me completely
holes too
my favorite blanket

grandma's old box
generation to generation
meals have been done

bedtime story
sliver of a blankie
held tight

first love
cool autumn night
we cuddle

winding dirt path
rustling of leaves
revealing new friends

grandma’s gift
grandpa’s love
old squeaky hinge

can’t fix it
still looks good
better than ever
