Allerton Park - A Kasen-no-renga
C.R. Richards & C. J. Babcock, July 2006
Midsummer Eve Air heavy with musk Bee hive humming Deep in the woods Very last sliver Alive in this one moment • Red, yellow, green Longing writes Two lovers with Geese overhead following inner compass With wary eye Twilight sparkles • |
•• Full moon’s halo Bare trees bone chilling cold But one looks away Words spoken in heat Bittersweet memories blossom The red glow of the hearth • He talks of mountain roads She talks of the elders About her ancestors Pleading come with me After he leaves Mountain quaking Aspen leaves • |
••• She lights one red candle Thoughts of tender walks She senses his presence Driving through switchbacks Ancient Asian wisdom Road turns sees her walking • His scent Touching tendril curls at her neck A cardinal sings Off winding trail they witness Cherries Come C. J. Babcock |
