black keys on white
my fingers fumble
to capture a memory

blankets overhead
              i am the queen
              this is my fortress

he offers his hand
her heart skips a beat
homecoming

  

 

another table for one
with your flatware
staring back at me

the candle flickers
we huddle closer
to steady its flame

  

 

cider warming my hands
         still too hot
                  for my lips
