Awards

Alpha Lambda Delta offers several awards and opportunities throughout the year for its outstanding members, chapters, professors and advisors.

The Maria Leonard Senior Book Award is offered by the National Council for awarding by the chapters to the graduating member with the highest GPA in their class. Presented at Honors Convocation.

Millikin Alpha Lambda Delta Teacher of the Year
Each spring, Alpha Lambda Delta, the Freshman-Sophomore Scholastic Honorary, names a faculty member as an outstanding contributor to freshman learning. The faculty member is chosen on the basis of the ability to teach, knowledge of subject area, ability to present material in a clear and understandable fashion, ability to motivate students to self-discovery in learning, and for the care and concern shown to students in and out of the classroom. The focus is on teachers who teach several classes at the freshman level.

ALD Graduate Fellowships
Each year National Alpha Lambda Delta awards one $7,500 fellowship, eight $5,000 fellowships and fourteen $3,000 fellowships. These fellowships have been established to help qualified members obtain graduate or professional degrees. Candidates will be considered on the basis of merit. Fellowship recipients will be announced by April 30. ELIGIBILITY: Any initiated member of Alpha Lambda Delta who has maintained the cumulative average of Alpha Lambda Delta initiation standard (i.e., 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent) until graduation is eligible to apply. Members graduating this year may apply if they have achieved this average at the end of the first semester (or first quarter) of the current year. In determining the average of eligibility, the decimal point must be .5 or above, and not a .49 or any other average less than .5.

Jo Anne J. Trow Undergraduate Scholarships
This year, students will be competing for ten $3,000 scholarships and 25 $1,000 scholarships - the most valuable undergraduate scholarships ever offered by National Alpha Lambda Delta. Eligibility: Any initiated member of Alpha Lambda Delta who has maintained the cumulative grade point average of Alpha Lambda Delta (i.e., 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent) is eligible to apply for the Trow Undergraduate Scholarship for the following academic year. (e.g., a student initiated between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2007 will be eligible to apply for the 2008 competition)
