Honors Scholars
Millikin's Honors Program introduces students to college-level scholarship, research, critical thinking, and writing during the freshman and sophomore years. Classes are taught as seminars - sessions involving intense discussion and requiring active participation. Honors Scholars are chosen based on their academic achievements, involvement in high school, and an interview/selection process.
Honors Scholars receive an additional $1,000 in merit scholarship assistance each year.
Presidential Scholars
Presidential Scholars are Millikin's best and brighest students.
Selection is based upon outstanding academic performance and
demonstrated leadership. Millikin's expectations are high, but
Scholars' rewards are great: Presidential Scholars receive a
full tuition scholarship, renewable for up to four years.
James Millikin Scholars
Millikin's strongest juniors are invited to join the next phase of the Honors Program to become James Millikin Scholars. All Presidential Scholars automatically become part of this group. James
Milllikin Scholars:
- are selected on the basis of their academic record, an interview
with faculty and several James Millikin Scholars, their writing
, and faculty
recommendations. All students, Honors Scholars or not, may
apply, as long as they have a 3.5 grade point average.
- are on their way to becoming truly
independent scholars as they work on their Honors projects
during junior and senior years.
- regularly present their projects at state, regional and national
honors conferences and professional meetings
