Description
In this immersion course, we will explore Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, and other early civilizations coming into contact with these societies. Through readings, lecture, movies, class discussions, reflection, and research we will delve into these foundations for our society, understanding critical events, ideas and historical civilizations. In addition, we will examine cultural and social problems/issues for these societies in a comparative manner, specifically examining the larger issues of military conquest, religion and women’s rights, and analyzing the way those issues have implications for our own societal norms.
