This course studies the development of youth of the middle school ages (10-14). It focuses on the developmental characteristics of, and the nature and needs of, early adolescents in relation to teaching at the middle level. A twenty hour internship is required for Millikin undergraduates taking the course. Please contact Dr. Ray Boehmer via email for additional information once you have registered for this course.
This course meets 1/2 of the requirements for Education majors desiring a middle level endorsement. Current Millikin students should sign up for 2 credits; Millikin graduates and non-Millikin students need to sign up for 3 credits to meet state mandates. An additional project will be assigned to students taking the course for 3 credits in order to complete full requirements.
