Learning Stories

"The Interdepartmental major worked for me because I wanted to integrate my work experience and complete college work with a flexible curriculum. I chose Communication, Business and Art as my majors. The integration of classes from those disciplines helped me move closer to my career objectives."
-Keri Canaday, 2004

"Getting accepted into Columbia's Journalism program and beginning classes has been an incredible opportunity. My professors include former NBC producers, NPR personalities, etc. I can already tell this year is going to be unbelievably challenging, but I'm ready to take it all in. I feel so incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to study under Pulitzer Prize winners and in one of the most news-savvy cities in the world, New York. The Interdepartmental major worked so well for me. Thanks, Millikin!"
-Teal Anderson, 2006

"Through my senior internship at Mililkin, I was growing very fond of nonprofit foundations and wanted to pursue a path that would collaborate all three of my Interdepartmental focuses: Business, Political Science and Communication. I have succeeded. I am working full time with The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (www.nfte.com), where I am answering the question, 'Who knows who through whom?' I map social relationships so that the development office can have a visualization of how to gain access to certain influential persons and organizations."
-Brock McDaniel, 2006
