International Night

Millikin celebrates cultural diversity

Millikin got a taste of culture and ethnic foods last week during International Night. The evening, which featured presentations by international students and foods from around the globe, had over 160 attendees.

Students made presentations on their countries’ religions, architecture, cuisine, entertainment, and government and family structures. The countries included India, the Philippines, Taiwan, China, the Dominican Republic, and Ireland. International trading store 10,000 Villages in Urbana also showcased unique items from around the world, and students who studied at Millikin as exchange students for the past semester were honored.

International Student Organization president Rahul Sinha said the night was an opportunity for all Millikin students to learn from each other.

“Our goal with this event was to spread cultural awareness at Millikin and in Decatur,” Sinha said. “It helps us communicate better and get out of our comfort zones.”
