You will need the Arden editions because we are going to use their notes, et. al. for class. So if you choose other editions, you'll be responsible for reading and incorporating the Arden notes, etc. into conversations and written stuff. p.s. the Arden editions will be available all over Stratford and probably even in used bookstores, and we go there first, so you will not have ANY problems getting them over there.

Twelfth Night

Tempest

Midsummer Night's Dream

Othello

Additionally please bring something (written, visual or aural) that has significantly influenced you or that you particularly enjoy or both. Please consider from your childhoods to now for inspiration. Pick something you want to share and dissect both in content and culturally. (As I was thinking about this, I decided to bring "The Cat In the Hat" by Dr. Seuss.)

  • f it's a visual piece of art (it doesn't have to be "American") try to find a copy in a book or print it off of the Internet or buy the postcard at a museum or something so we can see it.
  • No personal photos, however.
  • If it is music, bring the CD, my computer will be able to play it.
  • If it is text (poetry, an excerpt from a book, play, whatever) please bring that too.

Please don't stress over this, if it makes you think, laugh, ponder or whatever, that's probably it. Anything written or visual or aural or combinations (comics & children's books do both) are fine. I'm thinking the more whimsical you choices, the more fun the assignments I have in mind will be. Whatever, just make sure you enjoy it and want to ponder it.
