Following up on the success of the Fall 2004 Millikin semester in London, two Millikin faculty members are now embarking on a second such semester. This one will run from Sept. 1 through Dec. 7, 2005. Lori Bales (Assistant Professor, Theatre Department) and Tom Duncanson (Assistant Professor, Communication Department) have designed a set of courses that could earn you up to 15 credits and satisfy a range of degree requirements, including Global Studies (IN350), Language/Culture, off-campus learning, as well as Fine Arts, Communication, and A&S literature requirements. In London, you will live in a hostel (youth hotel) within easy reach of the downtown theatre district and other points of interest in London. In addition to field trips with the class out of the city, you would have some free time to travel on your own in England and the rest of Europe. What did it take for the semester to become a reality? Enough students registered for the semester and deposit(s) paid by March 1st, 2005. A registration fee of $300 was required by March 1 (refundable if the program did not happen). Costs: Millikin tuition, Millikin average room plus additional hostel fee, food, theatre and other event tickets, public transportation in London, air fare to London, as well as other costs as these may be determined ahead of time. All financial aid will apply for this semester off-campus (unless you have already spent a semester as a Millikin student studying off--campus before). Of these, tuition, room, theatre tickets and London public transportation will be billed by Millikin along with the $200 international study fee. Students who wish to participate in this program must be at least 18 years of age, have completed their most recent 12 credit hours of study at Millikin University, and be in good academic standing with the University (GPA: 2.0). Additionally, only students who are in good financial standing with the Business Office will be accepted for international study. Application is through the Director of International Programs, and the deadline for completion of all paperwork is March 1st, 2005. (In exceptional circumstances, an extension of this deadline may be granted by the Director of International Programs.) For more information, contact the instructors or Karin Borei, Director of International Programs, or one of the instructors. Lori Bales:

Caution: The actual offering of any prospective courses described on these pages is dependent on enrollment and other factors. Therefore, the courses may or may not ultimately be provided, at the discretion of the University. |
