India 2006: one students' experience.

Experience Indian Hospitality in New Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Kolkata, Darjeeling, and Santiniketan.

Tentative Dates--May 24 to June 24, 2007 (The trip will be between three weeks and one month long. May 24th is the earliest date we would depart for India and June 24th is the latest date we would arrive back in the US.)

Proposed Courses:

The Discovery of India: British and Indo-Anglican Literatures and Films in Historical, Intellectual, and Cultural Contexts EN 366 (cross listed with IN 350) (3 credits)

Introduction to Modern South Asia: A Historical Inquiry into Democracy, Citizenship, and Human Rights
PO 323 (cross listed with HI 340 and IN 350) (3 credits)

Elective Option--1 credit independent study for those students approved by Dr. Purna Banerjee.

Approximate Cost:

$4,950 for 6 credits OR

$4,155 for 3 credits OR

$3,600 for 1 credit independent study OR

$4,335 for 6 discovery credits OR

$3,835 for 3 discovery credits

$900 deposit due February 14, 2007

Balance due May 9, 2007

Cost includes the following:

tuition
room and board
airfare to, from, and within India
ground transportation within India
tourist attractions entrance fees
Indian visa fees

Additional expenses include International Student ID (ISIC) Card fee, US passport fees, lunch money, and spending money ($200-$300 recommended).
