To apply for an International Travel Immersion course

Each immersion will have its own deadlines. For these and other course-specific information, see the current travel immersion page that is linked from the International Programs home page (http://www.millikin.edu/international/ )

Any deposits and other immersion payments must be made at the Student Services Office in Shilling Hall. The money will be held in escrow for your trip (that is, it will not be applied to any current semester bills).

Travel immersion application is to individual instructors, through a formal contract available from the instructor.

You will also need to complete the following paperwork for the International Programs Office as a condition of participating in any international travel immersion. All forms are newly (September 2006) available online in pdf format.

You will need to bring all completed forms to the International Programs Office (Staley Library 105) where you will need to come in any case in order to obtain your ISIC card (#4 below).

  1.   A four-page Statement of Responsibility, Release and Authorization to Participate in an International Studies Program. Through this form, you agree to mature behavior and certain personal responsibilities.

  2.  A two-page Waiver, Release and Indemnification Agreement through which you legally acknowledge your personal responsibility (previous form). Your signature on this form needs to be notarized, which can be accomplished in International Programs Office or with any other notary. Do not sign this form until you are personally in front of a Notary Public. You will also need to show a valid picture ID (your Millikin ID is OK for this purpose).

  3.   An Emergency Notification form.

  4.   An International Student Identification Card (ISIC) application that, along with a passport-sized picture and a check for $22 made out to Millikin University, gives you a universal student ID along with access to a variety of student discounts and some limited insurance benefits. For an additional $1, we can take the picture in the library at the time of application. This card is created for you in the International Programs Office.

    about this card.

Also, be sure that you get a valid passport as soon as possible if you do not already have one! It needs to be valid to a date after you return to this country.
