Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Information Technology serves as an assistant to
the Director of Information Technology and is responsible for supporting the
installation, maintenance and use of information systems hardware, software,
and network resources. The Assistant Director supports the effective, efficient
and innovative implementation of technology in support of both educational
and administrative functions. In the Director’s absence, the Assistant
Director will be responsible for management of the Information Technology functions.
The Assistant Director manages resource utilization including selection of
desktop devices. The Assistant Director’s goal in such selections and
in follow-up management is durability, flexibility and economy. The Assistant
Director manages further by monitoring use of hardware, software, communications
and end user equipment to ensure:
- Effective system performance for all users
- Responsiveness to students, administrative and classroom functions
- Use of resources in accordance with law, University policy and principles
of good stewardship
In promoting classroom and administrative end-user success, self-sufficiency
and convenience, the Assistant Director consults with customers to identify
user requirements and translates requirements into working applications. The
Assistant Director manages the delivery of training, a help desk, making user-friendly
documentation available, helps faculty and staff understand and make the best
use of available technology and quickly resolves hardware and software failures.
The Assistant Director is also responsible for supervision of the scheduling
and provisioning of media services for faculty, staff, and students, repair
and
maintenance of media equipment, the database of equipment, and planning and
making media purchases. He/she is directly responsible for campus telecommunications
services for the university.
- Hire and supervise full-time employees in the Media, Help Desk, and Desktop
Services areas in conjunction with the Director
- Hire and supervise student workers in the Media, Help Desk and Desktop
Services areas
- Maintain budget records for the department
- Prepare annual evaluations for all full-time Media, Telephone services,
Help Desk and Desktop Services personnel in conjunction with the
Director
- Researches and plans for purchases of desktop hardware and software
- Manage the installation of new desktop hardware and software
- Manage the redistribution of desktop hardware
- Manage the support of desktop hardware and software
- Manage the delivery of technology training for students, staff, and faculty
- Manage the maintenance of printing services equipment
- Manage the recordkeeping of lease/repair agreements on equipment in Media
and Telephone Services
- Evaluate needs and plan budget for replacement and addition of equipment
in Media on a rotating basis
- Manage the support and maintenance of phone wiring, connections, equipment,
and billing
- Creation and maintenance of Web Pages for the IT Department
- Other duties as assigned by the Director
- Attend conferences, workshops, seminars etc. as required by the Director.
- In the Director’s absence, the Assistant Director will be responsible
for management of the Information Technology functions

- BS in Management and Organizational Leadership, Millikin University,
2001-2004
- Attended a variety of classes at the community college level that
pertain to computer software.
- Completed a four-day Novell class called "Netware 3.1X Administration"
which is a required class for CNE classification
- Held training sessions with users on a variety of software. Held workshops
on WordPerfect (5.1 DOS and 6.0 Windows); Microsoft Office Suite (Word,
Excel, Power Point); Presentations; Lotus, and GroupWise e-mail system.

- Technology Coordinator, GEO. S. Olive & Co., Responsible for maintenance of two Novell 3.12 networks in separate locations. Supported approximately 75 computers. Responsible for troubleshooting problems with users. Trained users on various software packages. Hardware responsibilities included adding memory, installing boards, and hub wiring.
- Designer, Essex Co. Reviewed, analyzed and commented on customer and industry specifications. Prepared and maintained design specifications. Prepared technical portion of quotations. Generated and maintained computerized bills of materials for products. Maintained System 3084 design program and related database files.
- Experienced in secretarial and word processing duties. Has been an office manager and has supervised office staff.
