How to install and configure NetDrive
One thing that students have been asking for for the last
couple of years is a good way to access their H drive without having
to use NetStorage. Now, we have an answer for you! There is a cool utility
provided by Novell that you can install on your computer to let you do
just this! To begin, first you need to download the software from Millikin's
software website. This can only be done on-campus, so
you will need to make sure to do this while you're in your dorm room
or a computer lab.
The software can be downloaded here,
and can be found at the bottom of the page under the title of Novell
NetDrive. If you are off-campus, please contact the IT office at infotech@millikin.edu.
Please save the file to your desktop. After this is done, follow these
steps
to install
the
software:

- Double-click on the Netdrive.exe file you just downloaded.
- If prompted about the publisher not being verifiable, click on Run.
- Select your installation language and click on OK.
- Click on Next.
- Click on Yes.
- Accept the default installation location and click on Next.
- You need to restart your computer or the software won't work properly.
Click on Yes to restart it now, then Finish to restart your computer.
Make sure that you have all your open files and programs closed first!
- After your computer restarts, go to the Start menu, then All Programs,
then NetDrive, and click on NetDrive.
- At the bottom of the screen, click on the New Site button.
- For the neame of the new site, type in Millikin NetStorage.
- For the site address, type this in exactly:
https://students.millikin.edu/oneNet/NetStorage/
- You must type in the address exactly as above, or it will not work!
- Click on Finish.
- In the middle of the screen, make note of the Drive letter selected,
this is where you will access your network drives through.
- If you want the drive to automatically connect every time your computer
restarts, click on the Connect at login/startup checkbox in the middle
of the screen.
- Uncheck the Anonymous/Public login checkbox.
- For the username, type in your fully distinguished username.
For example, if you are a student with username JDoe, you would
type in:
.jdoe.students.mu
If you were a music professor with the username of JPublic, you
would type in
.jpublic.cfa.faculty.mu (For a complete list of
faculty subcontexts, please click here.)
If you were an administrator with the username of ZSmith, you would
type in
.zsmith.admin.mu
- Note the preceeding period!!
- In the password field, type in your Network password.
- Now, click on the Connect button at the top of the screen.
That's all there is to it! Now, whenever you want to save to your Home
directory, just browse for the drive letter that was mapped by the software
that you noted above, then select the folder inside called HOME@MILLIKIN_TREE.
If you didn't tell the software to automatically log you in when your
computer boots, you will have to connect manually every time. To do this:
- Look for the NetDrive icon
down
by your clock in the lower right-hand corner of the window.
- Right-click on that icon, then go to Connect To, then click on Millikin
NetStorage.
