How do I use NetStorage?

To access your H drive, G:Share drive, and any other shared network drives
you have, just follow these steps below.
1. Go to http://netstorage.millikin.edu in your web browser.
2. You will be presented with a login screen.
3. Login with your typical network username
and password, just like if you were in a computer
lab. After this has been completed, you will
be then taken to your folder list. (Note that
your drive list will vary depending on what
drives you have access to.) If
you are a faculty or staff member, your username
will be in a different format.
Click
here to see
how to format your username.
4. Click on the + next to the folder that starts out Home@Millikin_Tree;
you will be able to see your list of files and folders.
5. To copy a file to your home directory: Select the directory you want
to upload the file to by clicking on the directory you want the file uploaded
to. In this example, I’m uploading the file to the root of my H
drive. Hover your mouse pointer over File. You will then get a drop-down
menu with your options listed.
6. Click on Upload… The upload window will open.
7. Click on the Browse button, then navigate to your H drive, you must
first download it to your computer, then work on it, and finally upload
it again
8. To download a file from your H drive, click on the file you want to
download, then go to file -> download. A window will appear asking
you where you would like to save the file to.
9. Click on the save button. You will then be presented with a dialog
box as to where to save the file to. Select the folder where you want
to save the file, then click OK.
10. When you are done working with your files, you will need to log out
of NetStorage. To do this, either go to file -> logout, or click on
the exit button at the top of the screen (it looks like a door.) After
you have successfully logged out, you will be given a screen which tells
you that you have successfully logged out.
11. Whenever you need to work with a file, you will need to download the
file, edit it, then upload the file again. The NetStorage window provides
for several additional functions you can use, such as creating directories,
renaming files and directories, and deleting files and directories. These
functions work pretty much the same way that the other functions mentioned
above do.
