If your computer starts running poorly and you have cleared your temps, run Ad-Aware, and defragmented, you think you may have accidently opened up an email that contains a virus, you are advised to do so by an IT member, or just want to run a scan to be on the safe side, just follow the simple instructions below (instructions for McAfee (which Millikin supplies) only:)

If you have Windows 95, 98, or ME

1. Go to Start, Programs, Network Associates (or McAfee Virus Scan)
2. Click on VirusScan
3. On the first tab, select Scan All Files (instead of Scan Program Files Only)
4. On the second tab, select Clean infected files automatically (instead of Prompt user for action)
5. Click Scan Now.
6. If infected files are found, they will be listed in the area at the bottom of the window; write these down and what virus they are infected by.
7. When the scan has completed, if any viruses were found, run the scan again until no more viruses are found.

If you have Windows 2000 or XP

1. Go to Start, Programs (or All Programs in Windows XP,) Network Associates, and click on On-Demand Scan
2. Click on Scan now
3 . If infected files are found, they will be listed in the area at the bottom of the window; write these down and what virus they are infected by.
4 . When the scan has completed, if any viruses were found, run the scan again until no more viruses are found.
