Blue Connection will feature the work of Spotlight Artist Tabitha Pennekamp. A Millikin University Senior B.F.A. Studio Art student, Tabitha's exhibit will include a variety of works including paintings, prints, and ceramics. Tabitha explores textures through vibrant colors in her paintings and prints while her ceramics demonstrate explorations in pattern and function. The Millikin University Guitar Ensemble will perform live music throughout the evening and complimentary refreshments will be served.

Dr. David W. Blight: James W. Moore Lecturer

David W. Blight is Class of 1954 Professor of American History at Yale University, joining that faculty in January, 2003. As of June, 2004, he is Director of the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition at Yale. Blight is the editor of and author of six books as well as numerous book reviews.
Blight was elected as a member of the Society of American Historians in 2002. Since 2004 he has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the New York Historical Society and the board for African American Programs at Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia. He also serves on the board of advisors to the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. The James W. Moore endowed lectureship honors the late James W. Moore of Decatur. Funds were contributed by his children, James M. (Mac) Moore and wife JoAnn Verberg of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Madeline Moore of Portland, Oregon.

The Faculty Woodwind Quintet is a frequent performer in the regional area, as well as abroad, performing in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and Banff, Canada at the International Double Reed Conferences. They enjoy playing a wide range of styles and are ready to explore new music while embracing the rich historic repertoire of the wind quintet. Members of the ensemble include Laurie Glencross (flute), Tina Nicholson (oboe), Solomon Baer (clarinet), Sonja Kassal (horn), and Mark Avery (bassoon).

The Gordons and The Special Consensus ![]()

The Gordons have been bringing their music to audiences since the 1970s. This husband and wife duo has produced seven albums of heartfelt, sincere and unique music during their career and performed around the country and in Ireland. Appropriate for all ages.
The Special Consensus is a four-person acoustic bluegrass band that began performing in the Midwest in the spring of 1975. The group has toured all over the United States as well as Europe and South America and performed at the Grand Ole Opry in 2003. Appropriate for all ages.
