DBR in the World Premiere of “Darwin’s Meditation for the People of Lincoln”
![]()
September 13, 2008 - 7:30 p.m.
Kirkland Fine Arts Center
Tickets: Adult: $10-$24 Child: $6-$10
The stories of two historical figures collide in composer and performer DBR’s newest musical composition. DBR (aka Daniel Bernard Roumain) is known for writing unique classical music infused with rock and electronic beats. His latest creation brings to life Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin, two men who changed the course of history and were born on the same day in 1809. Two hundred years later, DBR’s masterpiece honors Lincoln and Darwin and imagines their lives and relationships through music. Don’t miss this world premiere performance! Appropriate for all ages.
The Response :
"I want to say thank you so very much, to you and to all involved, for the performance. It was beautiful, intriguing, challenging, and satisfying, on every level, from the ears to the intellect to the heart." -B.P.
"I don't think a single person left that theater last night feeling like they completely understood everything, but that is the true beauty that was behind the piece. Anyone can compose something with a solid beginning, middle, and end for anyone to clearly follow, but it requires no train of thought and no true spiritual connection. This piece demanded your attention, and it demanded that for 90 minutes of your day at the very LEAST, that you consider something a little greater than just a story." -K.N.
