Collage showcases Millikin’s leading performing ensembles in a delightful evening of musical variety and includes the: University Choir under the direction of Brad Holmes, Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of Gary Shaw, String Arts Ensemble under the direction of Michael Luxner, One Voice under the direction of Stephen Widenhofer, Jazz Band I under the direction of Randy Reyman, and Percussion Ensembles under the direction of Brian Justison.

Percussion Ensembles Halloween Concert

The Millikin Percussion Ensembles under the direction of Brian Justison will perform a special Halloween concert in the infamously haunted Albert Taylor Theater in Shilling Hall. Guests are invited to join the ensemble in costume. Costume awards will be given. All proceeds go toward MU students attending the PAS International Convention in Austin, TX.

The annual Fall Vocal Jazz Concert will include performances by: COBALT, directed by Michael Engelhardt, a newly-formed men's vocal jazz group whose sound is somewhat reminiscent of the old vocal groups of the 40's and 50's; SYREN, a women's ensemble under the direction of John Stafford; and ONEVOICE, the flagship ensemble of the Millikin University Vocal Jazz program under the direction of Steve Widenhofer, who will headline the concert.

Millikin University's Fall Jazz Concert will feature the Millikin University Jazz Band II, under the direction of Perry Rask, and the Millikin University Jazz Band I, under the direction of Randall Reyman. The annual concert will feature the best in big band jazz. The 18-piece ensembles will play contemporary big band music as well as music dating back to the Big Band Era. Composers represented will be Sammy Nestico, Quincy Jones, Eric Richards, Neal Helfi, and many more.

Millikin University Percussion Ensemble in Concert with the University Women's Choir & Millikin Dance Department

The Millikin University Percussion Ensembles under the direction of Brian Justison will present a program entitled Synergy. This collaborative effort between the percussion, choral, dance, and composition areas showcases the distinctiveness of Millikin University's ubiquitous interdisciplinary alliances. The program will feature coactive performances by the University Women's Choir under the direction of Michael Engelhardt; the chamber and world percussion ensembles under the direction of Brian Justison and Dr. Jeremy Brunk; and members of the MU Dance Department under the direction of Sean Morrissey, including a solo performance by modern dance instructor, Angela Miller. An electro-acoustic composition by John Stafford will also be featured.

Featuring senior student saxophonist Donnie Glowinski playing Danza Capricio by Ron Nelson, the Millikin University Concert Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble Concert is sure to get you tapping your toes. The concert will also feature guest conductor Steven Eggleston from Illinois Wesleyan University.
