Millikin University’s Office of Student Programs and Center for Multicultural Student Affairs will host the 2012 High School Leadership Academy (HSLA) on Thursday, June 28 through Friday, June 29.
The event is open to rising junior and senior high school students. This overnight experience is designed to provide students with the chance to learn about and develop valuable leadership skills while getting to know other high school and Millikin University students.
The theme for this year’s High School Leadership Academy is “LEADership Through Social Change.” Students will learn about leadership by using the Social Change Model to develop a better understanding of themselves and their communities.
Please submit a registration form to the Millikin University Office of Student Programs electronically at email@example.com or mail it to: 1184 West Main Street Decatur, IL, ATTN: Office of Student Programs. The event is $40; however the first 15 students who register will receive a scholarship of $30. The registration fee and form are due no later than June 15, 2012 at 5 p.m.
All students must check-in at the Blackburn Residence Hall Lobby no later than June 28 at 9 a.m. and no earlier than 8 a.m. During this time, students will receive a room key, meal tickets, and other necessary registration materials. While students are checking-in, all parents or guardians will be asked to review and sign the HSLA Standards of Conduct Agreement Form with one of the Co-Directors of the program.
All parents, legal guardians, and other family members are invited to attend a formal reception on June 29 at 1 p.m. in Lower Richards Treat University Center. During the reception, all High School Leadership Academy participants will compete by delivering small group presentations.
