A program in which all third grade classes in Macon County are invited to tour the Homestead. Almost 1000 students take part in this hour-long field trip. Life at the turn of the century is re-enacted which gives the students appreciation for the way things were a hundred years ago. About 40 volunteers dress in period costurme playing the parts of Mr. and Mrs. Millikin, the upstairs and downstairs maids, cook, dining room maid and organist. The outing is an annual event, that began in 1979.
