Study Abroad in the Dominican
Republic!
Several times a year, Professor Luis Peralta takes students to
the Dominican Republic for a two week Spanish language immersion course.
The trips occur in January, March, and June, and depending on
the particular trip will count as either IN-350 (Culture and Civilization of the
Hispanic Caribbean) or SP-350 (Cultura y Civilización del Caribe
Hispánico); however, special arrangements can be made through
Professor Peralta if a student specifically needs a course not being
offered for the particular trip.
Applicable for any Spanish major or minor!
The course takes a look at the regional variant of Spanish spoken
in the Caribbean and how the native languages and history of the
region have shaped the modern-day Spanish spoken there today.
Students will also study the culture and the history of the
Spanish-speaking countries of the Caribbean.
There is still plenty of room for the January and Summer trips
and students who have any interest at all are highly encouraged to
consider these opportunities!
