Art Degree Distribution Requirements

B.F.A. breadth requirement – 1 course from “Category I” and 1 course from “Category II”

Category I Courses : Art History (AR303, 304, 305) or Art Studio (AR201, 205, 213, 215, 217, 221, 235, 313) or Music or Theatre History (MH 100, 101, 213) (TH 255, 335, 336) or Applied Music or Theatre (TH103, 107)

Category II Courses : Modern Languages (IT103, 114, 223) or (SP103, 114, 223) or (FR 103, 114, 223) or Philosophy (Any Course above PH 110) or English, U.S., or World Literature or Writing or History (Any course above HI 100 but you cannot count U.S. History, HI 203,204 here if being counted as U.S. Studies) or Business (MG100, MG360) or Biology (BI206)

Theatre Distribution Requirements

B.F.A. & B.A. degrees require 6 credits of Departmental Distribution requirements:

Dramatic Literature (3) – May include EN 325, 326, 359
Cultural History (3) – any course dealing with cultural history

B.A. modern language requirement – completion of modern language study at 223 level or 1 course above 223

School of Music Distribution Requirements

B.M. distribution requirement includes Option A and B

Option A – 3 credits from within the College of Fine Arts (see possible courses below)
Option B – 3 credits from any course outside the College of Fine Arts

Option A courses can be 3 credits from any of the following College of Fine Arts courses:

• Performance Vocal: Upper level music theory class
• Performance Piano: MT 403
• Performance Instrumental: Upper level music theory class
• Commercial music: Course in Fine Arts not required for major
• Music Business: MC 101

(NOTE: Certain majors strongly encourage certain courses. For example, MT403 counts as the CFA distribution requirement for piano students. Please check with individual major requirements.)

B.A. in Music distribution requirement includes Option A & B and modern language

Option A – 3 credits from within the College of Fine Arts (see possible courses below)
Option B – 3 credits from any course outside the College of Fine Arts
