Peer Tutoring

Peer Tutoring Is In Hiatus Until Spring 2012 Semester Begins

The Office of Student Success coordinates a free peer tutoring program on a scheduled or "by appointment" basis. Our peer tutors are selected and approved by faculty, and then trained by the Office of Student Success in accordance with the best practices and standards of the Association of Professional tutors.

Successful students attend tutoring sessions for a variety of reasons: build knowledge and skills, practice skills, develop effective study strategies, improve time management, mentoring by advanced students. Scheduled tutors provide assistance in the evenings on Sunday to Thursday, with some Friday afternoon sessions. Alternative times are possible by appointment.

Plan to Succeed !   Work with a Tutor !

Want to be a Peer Tutor?
Chat with a faculty member in the course or discipline you want to tutor. To be a peer tutor:
     - a faculty member must approve you to tutor particular courses,
     - you must be work-study eligible, and
     - complete the Office of Student Success peer tutor training program.

If you want to know more about tutoring programs or working as a peer tutor, please contact Rene Verry, Peer Tutor Coordinator, in Library 14D or at rverry@millikin.edu or at 217-424-6398.
