This course may be taken for Global Studies, Culture Track,
or Electives credit.
The course is a summarized study of the history, politics,
geography, and current situation of the Spanish-speaking
countries in the Caribbean. Students can study the importance
of the region on the development of the New World. Discussions
of US Foreign Policy are also part of this course.
Upon arrival, students will interact with Dominican tour
guides and citizens in order to achieve a broader understanding
of the current situation in the region.
Elementary Conversational
Spanish II:
This course may be taken for Culture Track or Elective
credit.
Students will participate in and create dialogs and
situations every week. Open questions and small role-plays
are an integral part of the class as well.
Students should be willing to move around, speak, listen
and work with groups, pairs and teams as activities require.
Students are responsible for practicing, drilling and
completing written exercises at home to make use of the
time in class for active conversation and interaction.
This course can be taken without participation in the
trip.
