About the PACE RN-BSN Program
In the Millikin PACE nursing program, students enter in a group, or cohort, of students each January. The courses are specifically designed to allow working nurses to achieve their degree through evening classes held once per week. Students study one subject at a time for 5-10 weeks over six-month semesters, which allows them to concentrate on each topic thoroughly.

Many nurses proceed to graduation in less than two years thanks to a combination of transcript evaluation, proficiency examinations, clinical skill validation, and accelerated coursework.

PACE nursing students must meet the same admission and graduation requirements as traditional students. A transfer GPA of 2.5 or greater is required. Individual course grades must be C- or better to be considered for transfer credit.

Students are expected to be familiar with the School of Nursing handbook, PACE materials and the Millikin student handbook. These materials are available in the School of Nursing office (LTSC 101) or on the Millikin Handbook website.

Semesters
For the PACE RN-BSN program, the spring semester runs from January-June and the fall semester runs from July-December. Courses are typically taught from 6-10 p.m. one night per week (clinical hours when applicable are in addition to theory class time). Each 6-10 week class is typically followed by a one- to two-week break.

Licensure & Health Testing
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Illinois is required for all PACE nursing students -- an up-to-date copy must be on file in the School of Nursing Office (LTSC 101). In addition, PACE RN-BSN students must carry individual malpractice insurance, and provide proof of that insurance prior to the start of NU 425.

Students must adhere to the health and professional behavior standards published in the "School of Nursing Student Handbook" available in the School of Nursing office. Immunizations, rubella titer, annual tuberculin skin testing and CPR certification are required. In addition, students must adhere to the University Health Services Center requirements.

Miscellaneous Expenses
Students should be aware of additional expenses associated with the PACE nursing curriculum. These expenses may include:
·Immunization, TB screen, and titer costs
·Uniform and nursing equipment
·CPR certification
·Drug screening (if applicable to clinical agency)
·Nursing composite photo
·School of Nursing pin
·NLN mobility exams
·Malpractice insurance
·CAT1 PACE tutorial
·Graduation expenses

Pre-Major Requirements
Certain courses (totaling 26 credits) are required for the Millikin University BSN. They are frequently part of the transferring RN's previous course work. The Registrar and Nursing Academic Advisor evaluate each transfer transcript. If a course is determined to be equivalent, the student will receive transfer credit. A student who has not earned credit in these courses will be responsible for doing so prior to graduation. It is important to note that some of these courses are prerequisites to other courses in the planned sequence and must be completed prior to taking that course.

Many students will transfer in the majority of these requirements. They must be completed prior to enrollment in NU425. Other Millikin Program of Student Learning courses or electives may be taken through the PACE program or transferred in with prior advisor approval.
