The awards for women’s basketball standout Lindsay Ippel continue to role in. Lindsay was named the 2008 ESPN The Magazine’s College Division Academic All-American of the Year. This prestigious national award is selected by the College Sports Information Director of American (COSIDA) and recognizes outstanding achievement both academically and athletically. Ippel’s award covered both Division II and Division III players. Ippel was named one of the ten finalists for the national Jostens Award. She was also named the CCIW’s Player of the Year for the second straight season. Ippel’s performance on the basketball court earned her a spot on two All-America teams. Ippel was named to the 2008 NCAA Division III State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team and to the 2008 D3hoops.com All-America First Team. D3hoops.com named Ippel its Central Region Player of the Year.
Ippel’s national award from COSIDA received extensive media coverage across the country. Stories highlighting her award were on ESPN.com, in the USA Today newspaper and carried to media around the country by the Associated Press. The award received significant local coverage in the Decatur Herald and Review, on two local television stations and on two local radio stations.

Millikin’s winter sports have wrapped up their seasons and our teams are heading outside for the spring sport seasons. Highlights of the winter season included the women’s basketball team advancing to the championship game of the CCIW tournament and the men’s and women’s track team earning 13 All-CCIW honors at setting three new school records during the CCIW Indoor track and field meet.
