Fall sports are winding down and starting to prepare for their runs at CCIW Championships. The women’s soccer team has broken nearly every record in the program’s history. Freshman Allison Horne has been a major contributor to the success this season. Horne is currently holding season records in goals (13), assists (12) and points (38). Freshman Brittany Belrichard is another part of the success this season. She was recently named CCIW Player of the Week (10/9/07) for her game-winning goal over Illinois Wesleyan. She is just the fifth Big Blue player to earn the honor in the program’s 12-year history. For her efforts, she was also named to the d3kicks.com National Team of the Week.
The Big Blue volleyball team recently knocked off No. 21 Central College (31-29, 21-30, 30-26, 22-30, 15-11). Senior Rachel Cook is leading the way this season in kills (393) and blocks (90, 23-67). Millikin was honored with three CCIW Players of the Week in junior Albana Gashi (9/5/07), junior Karen Carlson (9/11/07) and senior Jessica LeClaire (10/2/07).
In Big Blue Football, earning CCIW Player of the Week honors this season are offensive team sophomore Emmanuel Minter (9/1/07), defensive team sophomore Tim Hoette (10/6/07) and special teams freshman Kody Smith (10/6/07). Leading the way for Millikin, junior Matt Kormelink has accumulated 759 yards and 4 touchdown passes in seven games.
Millikin women’s golf team finished third at the CCIW Championships with a score of 665 (332-333). For the Big Blue, freshman Brittany Hassee finished ninth shooting a two-day score of 164 (82-82).
For Millikin's men's soccer team, Junior Roo Cudone is leading the way for the Big Blue with 10 goals on the season.
Cross country is enjoying a successful season led by freshman Ashley Thomasma who is currently No. 2 in Millikin’s 5K history and has set a new freshman record (19:10) and No. 3 in Big Blue 6K history (23:46).
