Business Office – Banking
Check cashing up to $50 is available in the cashier’s office. One-party checks, as well as two-party checks from parents or other family members, may be cashed. A fee of $25.00 is assessed for checks returned for insufficient funds. Available to all students is an Automated Teller Machine (ATM), conveniently located on the lower level of RTUC.

Tuition and phone bills can be paid through the cashier’s office by check or credit card (VISA, MC, Discover), the FACTS payment plan, the student’s MU Online account or by phone at 217-424-6317.

Telephone Service
Students are expected to supply their own phones for use in residence hall rooms and Greek living units.

Local telephone service is paid as part of the room rate. Each student is issued a six-digit access code. The access code permits a student to reach directory assistance, call long distance, and use calling cards from other long distance servers, all from any phone on campus. Millikin provides a long distance carrier, currently McLeod USA.

Each student is responsible for all calls made with his/her access code. Collect, third-party and operator-assisted calls should not be billed to campus phones. These calls are discouraged because of the cost and difficulty of billing to the proper person. Calling cards should be obtained based on home phone numbers, not those of campus phones.

Bills for access-coded calls are available on MU online. The bills must be paid by the designated date each month. Failure to pay bills on time will result in late fees and a temporary loss of use of the access code.

Special outdoor security phones are available at various locations on campus that can access the Safety and Security department or any campus phone. All major residence halls have such phones, along with several parking lots, the Recording Studio, the School of Music, and the Staley Library. Campus phones are also available in various academic buildings.

Parking
Students that are allowed a vehicle on campus must register their vehicle at the Safety and Security Office. A vehicle will be considered properly registered when a valid parking decal or special parking permit is properly affixed to the vehicle. Students are only allowed to register one vehicle. Freshman and sophomores are not eligible for on-campus parking permits unless extenuating circumstances exist. In such cases, the student must petition Safety and Security for a permit. Students may be required to provide verification of the extenuating circumstances. The cost of a parking permit for seniors and juniors is $50.00/year and for sophomores and freshman (if approved) is $100.00/year.

Students are required to park according to the guidelines outlined in the Parking Information brochure published by the Safety and Security office. Copies of this brochure are available at the Department of Safety and Security located in Walker Hall. Students are cautioned to pay particular attention to reserved spaces such as visitior (Millikin students are not considered visitors), handicapped parking, and designated fire lanes. Students who fail to abide by the University’s parking regulations are subject to fined parking tickets, having their vehicles immobilized or towed.

Safety and Security
The Millikin Safety and Security department is located on the first floor of Walker Hall. The office operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Officers utilize motorized vehicles, foot and bike patrols for the University campus and are available to respond to calls for service at any time day or night. Safety and Security also provides after-hours rides under the Safe Rides Program.

Because only residents of each residence hall and their invited guests are allowed in the residence halls, all entrances will be locked at all times. Each student is issued a room key and an entrance door key/card by the Office of Residence Life. Students should not let anyone borrow, use or have these keys/cards. A loss of keys/card should be reported immediately to the Residence Life Office. A fee is charged for lost keys/card. A student has seven days to find his or her lost keys and return them to the Residence Life Office for a refund.
