Date: May 27, 2007 Object: M82 and M81 Description: M81 and M82 are a pair of associated galaxies located in Ursa Major. M81 is one of the brightest spiral galaxies in the night sky with an apperant magnitude of 8. It's companion galaxy M82 is a "peculiar" galaxy of 9th magnitude. Both galaxies are 12 million light-years from Earth.
