Date: May 27, 2007 Object: Owl Nebula; M97 and M108; NGC 3556 Description: The Owl Nebula (in the upper left-hand corner) is a 12th-magnitude planetary nebula located close to 1,300 light-years away. In long exposure images, it appears to have "eyes". The spiral galaxy (in the lower-right hand corner), M108 is a 10th-magnitude object which lies 45,000 light-years from Earth.
