Why did you come to Millikin or why are you interested in physics?

Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision for many people, and I was no exception. I had known for a long time that I wanted to be a physics major but I was unsure of which college had the best physics program for me. After looking at many schools and weighing all my options, I came to Millikin. Millikin is known more for their music and theatre programs than their physics program, but that is what makes Millikin great. There are currently less than twenty physics majors in the whole school making the physics program very personal. The professors know who you are, and at the risk of sounding cliché, you are not just a number to them. From day one of my freshman year, I have been able to get very involved in my major and in the Decatur community. Currently, my fellow physics students and I have been working very hard on our Public Observation Nights and are beginning to organize our first High School Physics Day in the spring (for more information about Public Observation Nights and High School Physics Day check out the links under Millikin Astronomy and SPS, respectively). I know I made the right choice by coming to Millikin and if you are thinking about majoring in physics Millikin is definitely worth a second look.
