Physics & Astronomy Plan of Study
As a Physics major at Millikin, you and your advisor will work together to design a plan of study that best meets your academic needs
and career goals. Because of the individualized major program offered by the department,
there are many ways you can meet the requirements for graduation. As a starting point, you can look at the following sample schedules
and see what some possibilities might be. These have been designed for a student wishing to double major in physics and applied mathematics,
a very common choice for students at Millikin. The italicized courses are not required for physics, so if you wouldn't want to have the
second major in math, those would all be slots that you could substitute other courses into (More Chemistry? Some Biology? Computer Science?
Art? Philosophy?). Keep in mind that there are a number of University Studies requirements which you will need to meet - a list of these
requirements is at the bottom of the sample schedules. Since we offer our upper-level physics courses in alternating years, there are two
sample schedules - one for students entering in the fall of an odd year, and one for students
entering in the fall of an even year.
