Tune in to Millikin’s student radio station, WJMU, in the afternoons and you’ll likely hear the voice of communication major Keith Chandler. For someone interested in pursuing a career in radio, working as a DJ has been a valuable experience. “I chose Millikin because they gave me a lot of options and there are more opportunities to be involved at a paraprofessional level,” Keith said. “You can be a leader at Millikin.” His work with WJMU also prepared him for an internship with Clear Channel Communication in Arizona. “I learned a lot about the business/promotional side of the radio business and I use a lot of what I learned in working with WJMU on campus,” he said. His communication major knowledge also helped him succeed. “The great thing about Communication is that you can apply everything you learn to every other possible major,” Keith said. “I feel prepared to do much more than simply radio with what I’ve learned.”
