What made you decide to come to Millikin?
Everyone here is so friendly! I met my best friend on registration day. The classes here are very small (right now I am in classes with as few as six students!) and the professors genuinely care about you.
What have you most enjoyed about your major/minor?
I most enjoy teaching local students through my various internships. Instead of sitting in a classroom reading theories out of a textbook, I am working in a classroom at a local preschool, gaining first-hand experience.
What is most impressive about Millikin's academic quality?
I think the quality of the professors that we have at Millikin are very impressive. My professors have taught for many years in every realm of education that I can think of! They take the time to get to know every one of their students, and always take the time out to help anyone in need.
Describe what a Millikin Education means to you?
To me, a Millikin education means getting to really experience the professional life before you actually graduate and become a professional. It means having the opportunity to travel, whether you spend a week at the Urban Life Center in Chicago or a semester student teaching in Taiwan.
Why would you encourage high school/transfer students to attend Millikin?
I would encourage students to attend Millikin because it has granted me the most fantastic experience I will ever have. There is a variety if student organizations to get involved in upon interest. It is in an area where everything is tangible. The teacher to student ratio will allow students to have his or her questions and concerns answered when dealing with the academic situations. It is a tightly knit community, and the athletic teams and the theater/art department allow us to come together and be one with the best school spirit I have ever been a part in my young adulthood.
