Striking a Balance
As a Decatur native, Lindsay Ippel had heard plenty about Millikin’s academic reputation and sports teams. After learning more about the nursing program and being recruited to play basketball, she found it was the place for her to excel in both sports and academics. A member of the NCAA Division III women’s basketball championship team and team captain, Lindsey also spends her time volunteering with Special Olympics and working at Decatur Memorial Hospital. “I’ve enjoyed the clinical work in the hospital and being involved in hands-on patient care,” she says. Lindsay’s experiences on and off the court, and inside and outside the classroom, make her confident of her success after her time at Millikin. “Millikin's excellent reputation in the nursing field provides a challenging and outstanding education,” she says. “This assures me of a great opportunity for further education and employment after I receive my degree.”
