A Wealth of Opportunities
Though Millikin may seem small to some, coming to Decatur from a high school graduating class of 62 was a big change for Shelly Schwarm. But the finance major took advantage of every opportunity that came her way: she worked at the Blue Connection, serving as an accountant and keeping track of inventory for the art gallery, as well as working in Millikin’s Center for Entrepreneurship for three years. Shelly also gained practical finance experience in summer internships with Archer Daniels Midland Co. and State Farm Insurance, and used Millikin’s Career Center to find her first job with a State Farm office in Virginia. “My Millikin education has provided me with the essential tools I will need to excel and succeed in all of my endeavors,” Shelly says.
