We are the 100th chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Our chapter was chartered on January 14, 1911, and has been active on Millikin University's campus every day since. The Illinois Delta chapter is a member of the Mu province of ΣAE, which includes both Illinois and Wisconsin. The mission of ΣAE is "to promote the highest standards of friendship, scholarship, and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our Founders and as specifically enunciated in 'The True Gentleman.'" As defined by the preamble of the Fraternity Laws, ΣAE exists primarily "To form a more perfect brotherhood, promote the intellectual and spiritual welfare of our members, increase the educational standards of our chapters, ...secure for ourselves as well as the youth of our universities and colleges the blessings of these ideals, and aid in establishing their perpetuity..." The Illinois Delta chapter's mission statement only reflects these same ideals. The ΣAE foundation was extablished in 1927 to create programs that promote the highest ideals of acedemic and personal development. The existing programs include named scholarships, a student-loan program, and the international Leadership School that has produced more than 23,000 graduates. The ΣAE Foundation awards $40,000 in scholarships annually in support of its mission. |
