Welcome - SAFC

Welcome to the Student Activity Fee Committee (SAFC) online. The SAFC is comprised of eight students who allocate funding to student programs that appeal to the campus community. The committee is assisted by two faculty advisors and the Dean of Student Development. To learn more about members of the SAFC, see Meet the SAFC.

FRESHMEN: the SAFC accepts two freshmen each academic year for a position on the committee. For more information or to apply, see Freshman Application.

The SAFC has a responsibility to serve the campus community by ensuring that student activity fee dollars are spent wisely and on events and programming that benefit the student body and promote Millikin’s promise of “a personal life of meaning and value.” The SAFC allocates funding directly to 8 organizations (collectively called the “Big 8”):

Collage
Decaturian
Homecoming
Kirkland Visiting Artists Series
Office of Student Programs
Student Housing Council (formerly RHA)
University Center Board
WJMU

The Office of Student Programs uses its SAFC funding to provide resources for over 50 additional student organizations on campus. The Decatur Indoor Sports Center (DISC) also receives funding from the SAFC.

The “Big 8” student organizations are given opportunity to submit budget proposals and request funding in March of each year. For more information on this process, see Allocations.
