Freshman Application

The Student Activity Fee is collected from all full-time students for the purpose of providing a funding source for eligible student organizations to provide programs and activities, both co-curricular and extracurricular, which are and should be a part of the educational process.  The SAFC allocates directly to University Center Board, Decaturian, Collage, Homecoming, Kirkland Fine Arts Center, Student Housing Council, Office of Student Programs (for use to other student organizations) and WJMU.  The total amount allocated for the 2006-2007 academic year was $402,400.00.

The SAFC consists of two faculty members, at most eight students, and the Dean of Student Development.  The student positions are four year appointments.  If a student vacates his or her appointment prior to graduation, the position may be filled at the committee’s discretion.

The committee reviews the annual budgets of each of the listed organizations.  Based on the committee’s available fund, it allocates money to fund the programs.  Committee members are expected to attend all meetings and work together to complete assigned tasks.

If you are a member of the executive board of any of the above-mentioned organizations, you are not eligible for membership on the SAFC.

The application deadline for freshmen members for the 2006-2007 academic year has passed. Please return to this page in fall 2007 for online application information and deadlines.
