Bluelight Telephones

Millikin University has twelve Blue light telephones strategically placed
around campus. Each phone is operated in the same manner and provides a
direct means of communication for emergency and non-emergency situations.
How to use a Blue light telephone in an emergency situation:
1) Press the large RED button
located on the lower right side of the telephone face plate. The telephone
will automatically dial the Security office and activate the blue strobe
lights on top of the telephone case or pole.
2) Tell the Security office the nature of your
problem.
Once a Blue light telephone has been activated,
a Millikin Security officer will immediately investigate the telephone and surrounding
areas for anyone in need of assistance.
These telephones can also be used as common courtesy phones. The phones
located in parking lots can be used to call for a Safe Rides from dusk till
dawn. In a non-emergency
situation:
1) Press ONLY the
on button.
2) Dial the desired number.
3) Press the off button to hang up.
